A Beacon of Hope - the Leukaemia Research Cytogenetics Group
Tim's Trust has recently made a major donation to the Leukaemia Research Fund. This donation supports the work of Professor Chris tine Harrison and her team at Southampton General Hospital . The LRF Cytogenetics Group has been collecting data from patients with acute leukaemia since 1992 and now has the largest database in the world and includes the largest group of teenagers and young adults.
As well as continuing their pioneering work to maintain and continue to improve the huge advances in the treatment of childhood leukaemia, the group are now beginning to target their experience, gained over many years towards leukaemia and young adults, to improve understanding of the differences in the disease in this age group, with the aim of improving their treatment and survival.
